Said to have been the favorite gemstone of General Alexander the Great, Chrysoprase has occasionally been mistaken for jade or emerald, but we think it’s vibrant apple-green shade stands alone. In the Middle Ages, people thought they could become invisible by putting a chrysoprase in their mouth, and The King of Prussia Frederick the Great (1740 – 1786) was so obsessed with Chrysoprase that he adorned his Palace with objects and furniture made from this beautiful stone.
